The Little Foxes (by Lillian Hellman) Pasadena Playhouse prefered not to obtain clearance for prerecorded music so I offered to produce piano recordings of public domain songs used in the show. Because of this I was able to custom sculpt each piece - both in length and timbre - to fit each scene. Two characters play piano. The "Top of Act 2" is a Schubert waltz mimed on stage by Alexandra - the sound starts (curtain down) in the house in a concert setting and as the curtain rises it fades to her playing at a console piano in the sitting room. The "Wagner Duet" is Alexandra and Aunt Birdie both playing the piano until Birdie loses interest and feigns a spell |
