Rob Ruggiero Looped is a new play by Matthew Lombardo about a day in the life of actress Tallulah Bankhead in which she is called to the studio to replace ("loop") one line of dialog from her last film "Die,Die My Darling". Inspired by an actual bootleg recording from that session, Lombardo crafted a comedy much more substantial than just a campy portrayal of the scandalous Tallulah, where it becomes apparent just who really is in control. Through the Broadway run Talullah was played by Valerie Harper an don tour she is played by Stephanie Powers. |

For the tour I built a custom switchbox designed to run through house microphone lines. This box is controlled by the actor playing Steve (the recording engineer) from inside a recording booth on the set. This box triggers (via MIDI) a clicking sound effect that announces his presence before he speaks his lines - and it also unmutes his talkback microphone. | |||
