Peter and the Starcatcher is a fascinating hybrid of a musical - or perhaps a play with music. Whatever catgpry it falls into, it's a wonderful sound design challenge in that, at book value, there's not much more than the system to design. The sound effects are called for to be sourced by the two musicians on stage. But I never settle for what the script says. My design goal was to provide the most transparent sound possible and to augment and support the complex narrative of this play-within-a-play. Some things in my domain were the voicings of Mr. Grin, and taking us in and out of the magic world created by 'starstuff'.
