A very updated reconcption of the cyclically violent world of (now modern) Rome. This play came together at the early peak of the (Trumpian) presidential election craziness and was eerily reflecting of the jealosy, rage and betrayal that was to come in November 2016 (and probably still escalating even as you read this). Musically, I chose a more timeless core approach with some Elizebethan structure, with a modern orchestra and electric guitar. All court flourishes were in a military/drum-corps style. As modern as we made this play to be, a sense of eclecticism was unavoidable - so I ran with it. |
