Original music and arrangements from the Kaiser Permanente Educational Theatre touring show The Amazing Food Detective: Game On!. This production teaches primary school kids the benefits of proper nutrition. The young protagonists are accidentally sucked into the computer itself while exploring a crazy professor's new video game about nutrition. Premiered in 2011 and still out on tour in 2013. "Homescreen": the director wanted something with the gentle character of a Nintendo Wii game to serve as the underscore music for scenes with computer menu choices. "Preshow": the director asked for a re-imagining of what the 70's "Fat Albert" cartoon show theme might sound like if produced today. The example is the music that loops as the audience enters. "Detective Theme": this is an arrangement of existing classic detective, thriller and mystery theme songs from films and TV series... all of them that I could fit it two minutes! It is used in many variations as the kids sleuth their way through the show's food mysteries and challenges. "Disco Theme": this is (as the director asked for) "a hybrid of classic disco and modern club music". I chose the classic violin section as my disco inspiration. "Sugar Mountain": this plays under a video game challenge where the kids have to scale a giant mountain of sugar in the shape of Swiss alps... so I went for stereotyped Swiss oompah music. "Virus": this is wholly inspired by music from "The Matrix" as the kids navigate a computer cold virus.
