Icon Medusa - moving light product rollout at the LDI trade show

Kille Knoble

A commercial music piece for the Lighting Dimensions International (LDI) trade show in 1999. The company was Light & Sound Design, Inc. (LSD) in Newbury Park, CA (now defunct and bought by PRG). LSD was a national concert tour company - kind of a one-stop shop.

LSD developed a moving light called the Icon Medusa; an early 'digital' light that was virtually a video projector on a moving yoke. The Medusa never went into production but was a hit at LDI.

This music was commissioned by Kille Knobel (a classmate from CalArts) who works as a concert lighting director and back then was a programmer for LSD. Kille wanted 4 distinct musical segments all tied together to program the demo Medusa lighting rig.
